I keep rooting for “SHIELD”, but so far it keeps letting me down. Still a fun hour of no-butter popcorn entertainment, but, well, it needs butter.

CBS won Tuesday’s ratings race behind original episodes of “NCIS” and “NCIS: Los Angeles” as well as its annual “Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show,” which was the night’s top program among young adults. It was slow going, meanwhile, for ABC’s “Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD,” which hit a low after showing some progress in recent weeks.
According to preliminary national estimates from Nielsen, “NCIS” averaged a 2.8 rating/8 share in adults 18-49 and 18.8 million viewers overall to win its 8 o’clock hour across the board while standing as Tuesday’s most-watched program overall. It matched its season low in 18-49, as did “NCIS: Los Angeles” (2.4/6 in 18-49, 14.7 million viewers overall), which ran second for its hour in demos and first in total viewers.
Closing the night for CBS, the “Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show” pulled a strong 3.4/10 in 18-49 and 9.7 million viewers overall — down 6% in 18-49 from last year (3.6) while up slightly in total viewers. It was Tuesday’s No. 1 program in both 18-49 and 18-34 (4.1/14).
